What’s new over Get Together original?
The Get Together 2 and Get Together Mini 2 are the latest addition to the House of Marley’s Get Together speaker lineup, and they come packed with new and improved features. Not only have they undergone a sleek and refined design, but also, they have increased power and wattage, longer battery life, and upgraded Bluetooth 5.0 technology for improved wireless range. They are also built to withstand the elements, making them more durable and suitable for outdoor use.
One of the most notable improvements over the original Get Together speaker is the increased power and wattage. The Get Together 2 and Get Together Mini 2 pack 20 watts of power, providing a more powerful and immersive listening experience. This is especially noticeable when listening to music in larger spaces or outdoor environments. The increased power also allows for a more dynamic and detailed reproduction of music, making it a great choice for audiophiles.
Another improvement is the longer battery life. The Get Together 2 offers 20 hours of playtime and the Get Together Mini 2 offers 15 hours of playtime. This means you can enjoy your music for longer periods of time without the need for constant recharging. This is especially useful for outdoor activities or when you’re on the go.
Getting the speaker set up is simple, as is the case with most wireless Bluetooth speakers. Just power your speaker on and if it’s the first time it should go into Bluetooth pairing mode right away which you can see via the flashing blue light. Then head to your phones settings menu, drop into the Bluetooth settings and look for the get together speaker. It took me just a few seconds to get set up.
If you happen to need to connect to a new device or for some reason it doesn’t automatically begin to pair, just press and hold the power button until the blue light begins to flash. Worth noting is that if you already have a phone or tablet connected to your Marley Get Together 2 speaker, you’ll need to disconnect from that device in order to connect another device; you cannot have two phones, or a tablet and a phone connected to your speaker at the same time.
The upgrade to Bluetooth 5.0 technology also provides an improved wireless range. With a range of 30 metres, you can enjoy your music from farther away without any interruption. This also allows for easier and more stable connections between the speaker and your device.
House of Marley app
There is apparently app connectivity for the speakers that should allow you to view things like battery life and to manage your pairing and connections. For the life of me I could not get the app to find and add either of my two speakers. While that is frustrating, what I learned through my testing. Is the app is completely unnecessary to any task. While it would be nice to view actual battery life, stereo pairing and smart phone pairing is easily done without it.
Sound quality; Get Together Mini 2
I tried listening to a variety of music on both of these speakers; everything from current pop and rock, to vintage R&B, classic hip-hop, and even some yacht rock (don’t judge! It’s a vibe!). I was actually surprised at the crisp sound quality and the intricacy of the sound profile on the small Mini 2. The base was actually surprisingly resident and strong for a speaker of this small stature and I could see the speaker vibrating with the beat. I think the sound quality was outstanding and extremely impressive for a smaller portable speaker.
Sound quality; Get Together 2
If the Get Together 2 Mini sounds excellent, the Get Together 2 is even better. With two additional speakers, the ability to add more booming bass, and more power and water edge to kick out sound over a wider area, this speaker takes the already excellent qualities of the mini version and amplifies them both literally and figuratively. The base on this speaker is raucous and fun, and it maintains an excellent level of balanced sound.
Stereo pair listening
Listening to the two speakers together as a stereo pair or a multi room set up is actually pretty great. I put the larger speaker out in the backyard and left the smaller one in the living room. It was nice to be able to come and go from indoors to out and keep the same music flowing throughout the space. When listening to the two of them side-by-side, not surprisingly the larger Get Together 2 does tend to dominate, so if you’re looking for a true stereo pair set up, I’d recommend getting two speakers the same size.
Are House of Marley Get Together 2 and Mini 2 waterproof?
Both speakers are also built to withstand the elements, making them more durable and suitable for outdoor use. They have an IP67 rating, meaning they are dust and water resistant.
I was a little nervous about dunk testing these since the bamboo construction and fabric wrap don’t exactly paint a picture of rugged durability. But in the spirit of doing the dirty work so you guys don’t have to wonder, I dropped both speakers into a pool.
To my surprise and astonishment both float, and bubble up to the surface quickly. When I removed each one from the water, they were both still playing at volume, and the dunking seemed to have absolutely no effect on them. With some speakers that call themselves waterproof, they end up sounding distorted until their innards dry out. But with both of these speakers, I was actually even able to leave them floating in the water with the music playing without any ill effects.
How to connect two House of Marley Get Together 2 speakers for multi-room audio
Initially I thought the menu or what looked to me like a connection button on the back of the speaker had something to do with this pairing process, but it turns out this is simply for changing the language.
How do I pair two Marley speakers?
It’s possible, if not intuitive to pair two house of Marley get together two speakers to create a stereo pair and a left or right channel. Once you have one of your speakers connected to your phone, turn the second speaker on then push and hold the volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously for about three seconds. You should hear the speakers say, left channel and right channel.
Environmentally friendly portable speakers
Lastly, House of Marley’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the materials used to make these speakers. Both speakers are crafted from natural bamboo, premium REWIND fabric, REGRIND silicone, aluminum, and delivered in 100% plastic-free and recyclable packaging. This not only gives the speakers a unique and natural aesthetic, but also makes them an eco-friendly choice for consumers.
Overall review: House of Marley Get Together 2 and Get Together Mini 2
Overall, I’m happy to report the House of Marley Get Together 2 and Get Together Mini 2 are both excellent choices for anyone looking for a high-quality portable speaker that combines superior sound quality, sleek design, durability, and water resistance. The Get Together 2 is the perfect choice for larger spaces or outdoor use, while the Get Together Mini 2 is the perfect choice for on-the-go listening. Both speakers offer improved power, battery life, and wireless range over the original Get Together speaker.
So what are the downsides? When it comes to the larger Get Together 2 speaker, it is rather heavy to tote around, so it’s not ideal for some thing like a backpacking trip. For that the mini two would be the perfect option. But after my testing. I’m really having a difficult time trying to find something bad to say about the speakers. I suppose I could crack on the fact that the app is largely useless but since I didn’t actually need it for anything important, it’s hard to mark Marley down for this.
In short if you’re looking for portable Bluetooth speakers that sound great, look good, are made from more sustainable materials and they are easy to take with you, I can definitely recommend both the House of Marley Get Together 2 and Get Together Mini 2.
