Your smartphone is one of the most important things in your life. Drop it, and how will you communicate? (Because it’s not like anyone knows anyone else’s phone number anymore.) How will you find your way home without Google Maps? How will you call an Uber, or post on social media?
This and so many other reasons are why there are more and more tech accessories coming out recently that help you to protect your oh-so-important smartphone.
One of these is the IMStick. A relatively new product that took off KickStarter, it hopes to revolutionize the smartphone accessory space.
What is IMStick?
The IMStick is also known as the Intelligent Magnetic Stick. It’s made from aircraft-grade—yet lightweight— aluminum with integrated neodymium magnets (eight separate magnets, and, yes, they’re all safe for your phone) and acts a smartphone holder and mobile phone mount. You slide one of the metal discs into the back of your smartphone case, or stick it to the back of your phone with the peel & stick adhesive, and then yor phone will instantly ‘stick’ to the mounting bracket. The bracket has small wiry, bendy arms that you can use to attach it to almost anything; poles, handles, car vents, shelves and more.
What Does IMStick Do?
IMStick attaches to the back of your phone, and then uses two adjustable, rigid wire-bands to attach it to objects like your hand, your workout equipment, your bike, your car — whatever you need! You can also bend the wires to create a stand too.
How to Set Up Your IMStick
Setting up your IMStick is easy. Just remove the protective tape from the metal disc. Affix the disc to the back of your phone, or hide it inside your existing case. Then, your phone will magnetically click to the metal base with its wire arms, so you can attach the IMStick to anything.
Special Features: Color Options
Most tech accessories are highly visible. After all, a case or a PopSocket or, in this instance, the IMStick, is highly visible. People see it whenever you use your phone (which is a lot!). So, IMStick comes in various different colors, so that you can customize the different pieces to your style. There are options of black, silver metallic, blue, rose gold and more for the metal body. The silicone plugs come in black and white. The wires come in any color you like!
IMStick Special Features: Place It
There are many different functions for the wire-bands once they’re attached to your phone. One of the special features allows you to bend the wires in just about any shape imaginable, so that you can then use the IMStick as a phone stand, perfect for watching videos or scrolling social media on either a phone or tablet.
IMStick Special Features: Mount It
The wire-bands can easily wrap around other pieces of equipment to mount your phone or tablet to workout equipment, stroller handles, bikes, car vents and anything else that has a circumference smaller than the wire-band’s capabilities.
IMStick Special Features: Hang It
Similarly, the IMStick wire-bands can bend and connect to allow you to hang your device from whatever best suits your purpose.
IMStick Prices and Purchasing Options
The IMStick has been funded on Kickstarter already and according to the page the regular price will be about $40CAD.
