amazon echo show 5, review, how to

Did you just get a new Amazon Echo Show and you want to make it your own? Amazon’s default backgrounds for the Show are kind of… dull. Fortunately, you can choose from any number of preset screensaver looks, or upload a photo from your phone through the Alexa app. Here’s how to do it.

How to customize the screen on Echo Show

To change the basic backgrounds from Amazon’s list, swipe down from the top of the Amazon Echo Show or Amazon Echo Show 5 screen. Choose Settings, then select Home & Clock, then tap Clock. You can surf through the choices that are available, and inside each option you can do some further customizations too.

How to add your own photos to the screen on Echo Show

To add your own photos to your Amazon Echo Show, grab your phone.

In the Alexa app, look for your Alexa device by selecting the Devices tab along the bottom bar. Choose your device (mine is called Kitchen) from the list, then scroll down among the settings until you see Home Screen Background. Choose this option and it should populate a list of your photos. Choose the one you want.

To remove or change the photo, follow the same steps and you’ll see “remove’ is an option.

While this is a nice option, it appears you can only have one photo as opposed to a gallery of images. That’s kind of disappointing. Though there is apparently an option to do a slideshow of your Amazon Photos. I don’t have this set up so I didn’t try it.

That’s how to customize your Amazon Echo Show device.  Got other questions about your Echo Show device? Post them here or suggest future videos I should make!

Available on Amazon and Walmart.
