iRobot, best known as the geniuses behind a legion of robots who keep your house tidy has launched not one, but two new powerful robots. Not only that, these Roombas, the Roomba s9+ and Braava jet m6 actually work together to first sweep, then mop your floors, meaning you have less housework to do.
What can new iRobot Roomba s9+ do for you?
The Roomba s9+ is a robot vacuum cleaner, newer than even the i7+ which was announced only a few months ago (Read my review of the Roomba i7+ and watch the video here ). The new design has what’s dubbed a svelte ‘Maximized-Edge’ design which gets right up against baseboards and more easily into corners. The device also brings back the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system found on the i7+, which automatically empties the onboard dustbin when it’s full, sending the robot back to its base where a powerful vacuum removes debris and secures it in a sealed bag.
The s9+ is said to be the most powerful, intelligent, and the best cleaning Roomba robot in production. And that’s saying a lot since the recent i7+ was a pretty amazing and powerful vacuum too.
New Braava jet m6 follows up the sweep with a fresh mop
Meanwhile, the Braava jet m6 is a robot mop is equipped with superior navigation and mapping capabilities and boasts the deepest clean for multiple rooms and large spaces. Both robots use iRobot’s Imprint Link Technology to communicate with each other, which means they’ll automatically vacuum and mop the house without any external intervention from you, the owner.
How well will they work in tandem? I’m hoping to get my hands on these new ‘bots to see firsthand how well the system works.
Two robots working together, for your home
Christian Cerda, COO of iRobot says the Roomba s9+ robot vacuum and Braava jet m6 robot mop are the most intelligent and advanced home robots his company ever built.
“The Roomba s9+ robot vacuum and Braava jet m6 robot mop are the most advanced robots that iRobot has ever built and the best home cleaning robots in the market today,” Christian says. “Customers who demand high-performance, detailed cleaning will appreciate the superior suction of the Roomba s9+ and its ability to vacuum deep into corners where dirt hides. The mapping and navigation intelligence of the Braava jet m6, along with its advanced cleaning features, provide customers with a robot that can mop their whole home.”
Roomba s9+ will leave even the corners squeaky clean
The Roomba s9+ robot vacuum has 3D sensor and PerfectEdge Technology, which should mean a pretty close, edge-to-edge clean. Because the design is new and sports more squared corners, it can really get into tight corners itself, more so even than the rounded edges (and special brush) of the i7+.
The company’s proprietary Dual Rubber Brushes and the new Corner Brush are capable of getting everything from dust and dirt to hair and large debris from all kinds of floor surfaces including hard floors and, yes, even carpets. The Roomba s9+ also comes with a new powerful cleaning system with up to 40X suction power than previous iterations.
How do the Roomba s9+ and Braava jet m6 work?
iRobot’s iAdapt® 3.0 Navigation with vSLAM technology helps the vacuum to navigate your home by keeping track of its previous positions, so it knows where it needs to clean next.
Built in Smart Mapping technology helps the Roomba s9+ to memorize your home’s floor plan and enables you to control which room the robot should clean next and when, if you want. The robot can be controlled via the iRobot HOME App or when paired with Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant.
Once finished cleaning, the Roomba s9+ heads home to the Clean Base Charging Station, which automatically empties the robot vacuum’s content into a disposable bag.
Braava jet® m6 is programmable to mops multiple rooms and large spaces
The Braava jet m6 is a nifty little guy that will mop your entire house’s floors. Just attach your preferred cleaning pad – there are options for both Wet Mopping or Dry Sweeping – and the robot will do the rest. In Wet Mopping mode, the wet mopping pad and liquid jet spray will clean kitchen grease, sticky messes, or grime. In Dry Sweeping mode, the pad collects dirt, dust and pet hair from the floors — thanks to the robot’s electrostatic force. When the Braava jet® robot mop is done cleaning, all you need to do is to place the robot over a dust bin and click on the eject button to dispose the dirty cleaning pads into the trash.
In case the robot runs out of juice in the middle of the cleaning it will automatically recharge and resume cleaning.
Smart navigation and mapping so it knows what to do & where to go
Similar to the Roomba s9+ robot vacuum, the Braava jet m6 robot that smart navigation an mapping system to navigate around the house so it knows which rooms or areas of the house need to be cleaned. Again, to set up a cleaning schedule, use the iRobot HOME App, or just press the CLEAN button. Braava jet m6 also takes voice commands from Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
