The cords that come with our devices are never long enough. You’re forced to sit next to the wall if you want to use your smartphone or tablet while it’s recharging. There’s a better way. These are some of my favourite cables, cords and power banks for charging, and I own each of them.

Best charging cords and cables

Whichever charging cords and power cables you choose, make sure they’re approved for use with your device. You can buy cheap power cords and charging cables online, but if they stop working after a few weeks (as has happened to me!) you haven’t really saved any money, have you.

1. Best USB-C cables: Ventev

Ventev is relatively new in Canada, but the high quality of their cords and cables, plus their rich, fun colours makes them a personal favourite.[amazon_link asins=’B01AF2UTY4,B07B9NXHS9′ template=’ProductCarousel’ store=’techgadcanada-20′ marketplace=’CA’ link_id=’a87bb23b-4183-11e8-b62c-c1457044674f’]

They also make different types of cables and car chargers too.

2. Best charging accessories – Belkin

Belkin are definitely leaders when it comes to mobile accessories, and for good reason. Their products melt good design, aesthetics and durability.

I just love the MIXIT power bank. With its sleek brushed aluminum finish and variety of power sizes, it keeps the juice flowing while I’m on the go. The Belkin brushed metal cords and cables designed to match Apple devices are also gorgeous must-haves.

3. Prettiest and longest cables – Native Union

Native Union makes gorgeous cables that are functional and pretty.  They have beautifully fabric-wrapped charging cords come in long lengths, like up to 3 metres or 10 feet. They also have nice touches like leather wrap-straps or dual-purpose ends that provide both lightning cable charging and micro-USB, all in one.

4. Most versatile cords & least frustrating cable – Tylt Flyp Duo

Versatility is key, especially if you’re travelling. That’s why I love the Tylt Flyp-Duo. It has both a lightning end and a micro-USB. But this genius little cable will also end the frustration of constantly plugging your USB end in upside down, since it goes in both ways! It’s about time if you ask me! Plus it comes in cool colours, and longer lengths.

5. Cord that works with both Apple AND Android – Swiftrans

If you play for both Team Apple and Team Android, you know it’s frustrating having two different sets of cords. Now you can keep one cord with you for both devices. Swiftrans makes cables with both a USB-C end and a lightning connector — hallelujah!

Don’t get stuck with boring and limiting factory cords and charging cables. Check out one of these that I personally love.

I do this partly for convenience of the reader (since I’ll almost always include a link to the company website or similar anyway) in case you want to read more or purchase but I also may get a small commission from the click, which helps me keep the blog running.
