Headphones are one of the most personal gadgets we can buy. Because they fit so closely against out heads, or even inside our ears, you want something that’s going to be comfortable, just as much as you want something that looks cool and fun to wear. I recently had a chance to try out some new headphones from Bliiq for this Sponsored Post, and I’d like to thank Bliiq for supporting the blog and the YouTube channel. While they are sponsoring this video, they have not told me what I can or can’t say about their headphones, so these thoughts are my own.
Bliiq Wireless headphones review
Bliiq Hummingbird headphones are designed specifically for athletes to be comfortable, and fit well so they don’t slip during long or intense workouts or runs.
They come in Black, White and this cool red colour that stands out nicely. They’ve got a neckband that keeps them connected and from getting lost easily. The narrow adjustable neckband is also where you’ll find a small control module.
Handily, there’s also a nice durable hard case to store the headphones in and keep the charging cord so everything stays together in one neat package.
Set up and Pairing
Setting these headphones up was really easy. Press and hold the multifunction button for about 5 seconds and you’ll see them pop up in your phone’s Bluetooth menu. Click to connect them and you’re ready to go. It took just seconds and I had no issues with the process.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is so important in a headphone. When you’re working out you want them to be durable and light so they stay put but don’t bug you. Bliiq Hummingbird are both of those things.
They’ve got a flexible back arm that loops over your ear to help hold them securely but comfortably in place. They’ve also got a sweatproof coating.
I tested them out on a run, plus while doing some yoga. I also just moved my head around a lot to see if I could shake them loose. Nope. The Hummingbird headphones stayed put.
If you like getting that nice tight seal against sweat getting in and to keep ambient noise out, these come with eight sets of ear tips so you should be able to find the perfect fit.
I wore these headphones for first an hour, then for about 90 minutes at a time. I found the Bliiq Hummingbird headphones to be really, truly comfortable. The flexible back arm has a lot of give to it so they stay put but don’t press on your ears.
Operating the Bliiq Hummingbird wireless headphones
To operate the headphones, you’ve got controls on the neckband. Rather oddly for headphones they’re on the left hand side. Most put this on the right, so this took a wee bit of getting used to but it’s no big deal – and you left handers will probably rejoice about this.
There’s three buttons: a multifunction button that can play and pause the music or connect to Bluetooth. There’s also volume up and down buttons and they’re properly oriented to make it easy to adjust quickly.
How do Bliiq Hummingbird headphones sound?
Bliiq makes a lot out of its bass responsiveness and depth and I can say unequivocally that the bass is really great, particularly listening to music like Run DMC or Hip Hop. It’s strong and resonant and even at higher volumes without distortion.
These headphones get really loud. If you need volume power these can deliver.
Vocals came through clearly and sounded authentic (I loved hearing Taylor Swift’s Delicate on these!) and overall I’d say I was surprised and impressed with the audio quality. It’s clear, crisp, realistic and full. It delivers on everything the company says it should.
My test playlist for Bliiq Hummingbird:
- Delicate – Taylor Swift
- Ooh Watcha Gonna Do – Run DMC
- Trigger – Tatiana Owens
- Taki Taki – DJ Snake
- Where the Party At – Jagged Edge
- Venom – Eminem
- The Pretender – Foo Fighters
- No One Knows – Queens of the Stone Age
Bliiq Hummingbird – Battery life & Charging
I hate having to wait for my headphones to charge so I always try to choose headphones with an ultra long battery life. Bliiq Hummingbird wireless headphones have a 14 hour battery plus a quick charge feature, where you can get an hour of play time on just ten minutes of charge.
One of the things about these headphones that surprised me most is that there’s a lifetime warranty on them. If you find some kind of problem with the workmanship, you can send it back for a free replacement. That makes me feel really good about choosing the Bliiq Hummingbird.
Overall review – Bliiq Hummingbird
Overall I was really happy with these headphones and I think you will be too, whether you’re working out in beast mode, or commuting. They fit well so you’re able to get that noise isolating fit. They may not have noise cancellation, but at this price point, you’ll have to expect some trade offs.
The long battery life is impressive, as are the looks. I also really appreciated Bliiq including a carry case with these.
Do they have any downsides? I didn’t find a whole lot to complain about. I did think the left-side control box was backwards, but otherwise I have a tough time finding anything bad to say about the Hummingbird.
Finally, the fit and comfort is outstanding, as is the sound quality. Overall, I really fell in love with these headphones and I’m happy to recommend them.
The Bliiq Hummingbird headphones sell for about $74 US from Amazon.
