How did NORAD Santa Tracker start?
Back in olden times, in about 1948, the United States Air Force put out a bulletin that it had spotted one and identified slay powered by eight powerful reindeer. The news immediately was shared across North America and people knew the government was keeping watch for Santa to ensure he stays safe and warm all night long. So when better technologies were developed and NORAD was formed, NORAD knew it had a duty to keep Santa’s safety top of mind.
One Christmas night, the telephone rand at NORAD headquarters, and the Colonel answering the calls found it was a child asking if NORAD knew where Santa was. Because they did know, NORAD provided Santa’s exact location to any child who called on Christmas Eve. As you can imagine that was a lot of phone calls, even in olden times before everyone had their own smartphone. So many years later when the internet was invented, NORAD realized that it was time to create a website where all the children of the world could know Santa’s exact location, since as you know everyone needs to get to be early and go to sleep, or Santa won’t come to your house. That’s how NORAD Santa Tracker came to be.
