When beauty and technology meet, I’m in heaven. My latest lust has been for the ultimate cordless beauty tools. Despite all the styling gadgets and unique inventions I’ve tried, I only recently had a chance to try cordless styling tools. The Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron & Wand recently arrived for testing, alongside the Lunata Beauty Cordless Flat Iron Styler Plus, which you can also see the review of here on the channel. I got to spend a few glorious weeks with them and here’s what I found.

Review: Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron & Wand

This Curling Iron is a multi-tasker. It’s got a 32mm or 1 1/4” rose gold barrel that’s titanium coated stainless steel. The holding plate for the iron slides off and you can use it as a curling wand too if you prefer.

There’s some enticing prospects to this device. For starters it’s that lack of cords. You have so much more freedom without them and that’s something I noticed right away. The Lunata Curling Iron and Wand heats up to 450 F and will last up to 40 minutes on high on a full charge.

The Curling Iron comes with a USB-C charging cable and a wrap-around silicone sleeve that lets you safely transport it while it’s hot. The sleeve can double as a protective heat mat. There’s also a heat resistant glove.

I will say the product is lovely; the white and rose gold design is sleek and pretty, and the rose gold carries to the iron itself too. It’s definitely a chic and beautiful product.

Heating time: Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron and Wand

The iron takes a few minutes to heat up. About three minutes in total to come to my preferred temperature of 430F.

I did find that the predicted run time of 40 minutes was about right in my testing. There is an auto shut off feature that will turn the power off if the device doesn’t move for about 20 minutes.

While the manual for the flat iron says you can’t use it while it’s charging, with the Curling Iron, you can; it’ll operate for an hour while plugged in.

Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron and Wand: Heat levels

The heat levels on the iron are a bit different and they’re not displayed as a specific temperature, they show as levels from Low to Max:
Low = about 250F
Medium = about 350F
High = about 400F
Max = about 450F

Buttons & controls

This device does have an auto lock for the buttons, so it won’t turn on accidentally in your bag and that also means you won’t accidentally nick them and change your heat setting while using it.

Styling results: Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron and Wand

This iron is meant for creating big, beachy waves, and it does just that. On my newly shorter hair it made luxurious waves that needed only a slight brush out to fluff. They did relax through the day as they would with any curling iron, but they held all day long.

I used the curling iron both with the iron tong and without.

I didn’t think the tong was that helpful; it doesn’t grip the hair securely for me, so more often than not my hair would slide out. It would often take several tried and a lot of slow delicate movement to get it curled up in place. Unlike my old curling iron which snapped the hair ends super securely, I felt this feature could use a makeover.

The Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron and Wand is quite portable. You could drop it in your bag to give yourself a wireless touchup during the day or before an evening outing.

Overall this curling iron has some pretty great features and it will be a dream gadget for a lot of us. The lack of cord is huge. The heat settings are just what the stylist ordered, and the results are great. I also really like that the flat iron and the curling wand use the same charger, so you could pack both tools and just one cord. It’s also dual voltage so you can take it with you if you travel. I like that this one can be used while plugged in, and that it has locking buttons; those were two of my dislikes on the curling iron since it doesn’t have those features, so it’s nice to see some upgrades being made.

The downsides of this device? It does get a bit heavy if you’ve got a lot of hair. I also didn’t love the grip strength of the removable iron piece; I couldn’t get it to hold my hair securely.

I’d also love it if Lunata came up with a multi-tool version with different width barrels for some versatility.

But overall I can recommend the Lunata Beauty Cordless Curling Iron and Wand as your new styling tool, particularly if you’re looking to cut the cord.

It sells for about $250 and you can get it from Lunata or places like Best Buy and Amazon.
